6. Give your views
on Dartmoor Circle's Low
Carbon Plan.
Dartmoor Circle is
Dartmoor's climate action groups working together, and Andrew Shadrake, our Treasurer and funding guru, is the Chair.
Dartmoor Circle is
working in partnership with Dartmoor National Park, and many other
organisations and communities, to write a Low Carbon Plan for Dartmoor. They'd
like to make sure it is as accurate, and includes as many good ideas as
possible. They are inviting everyone to download the chapters that
interest them, and make changes and suggestions. Each chapter gives an
email address you can send your new version to. You can download
the plan from the Dartmoor Circle website at http://www.dartmoorcircle.org.uk/lowcarbonplan.html .
The plan includes sections on the following issues:
To help make the
plan as strong as possible, they need comments from all of the Dartmoor
Circle members – including our group.
7. A message from
Teignbridge MP, Richard
Younger-Ross
"As I am sure you are aware I have very strong views on climate change and
I feel that our Government needs to be doing a lot more to encourage the
development of a green manufacturing industry. I would love to hear your
views on what you feel our priorities should be regarding green technology and
renewable energy sources. Should on-shore wind farms be encouraged or
will they do too much damage to our natural environment? Should we
prioritise off-shore wind farms, tidal power such as a Severn barrage or solar
power? Should all new properties be solar and wind power
compatible? I would appreciate hearing what you feel the Government
should be doing in order to reduce our carbon footprint. I look forward to
hearing your suggestions." Richard Younger-Ross
Send any ideas to yrossr@parliament.uk (nb Richard was the 350th signatory on our 350 petition,
that we send to Ed Miliband, just before Copenhagen).
There will be several more Community Woodland
woodcutting sessions, before the season ends - email me for more details
best wishes
