18th August - BCA launches Eco Dolls House

Bovey Climate Action launched its eco- dolls house at the Bovey Horticultural Show on Saturday 18th August. The energy saving features in the dolls house (which was kindly donated by Carys Morgan) were designed by BCA member Liz Sanders to show people how they can reduce their household carbon emissions.

At the show, over 20 visitors to the BCA stand tried their hand to identify all 32 features for the chance to win a prize.

The dolls house will next go on show at the BCA Farmer's market stand in September.

Town Council joins BIG Switch and saves with Green Tariff

Bovey Tracey town council has voted unanimously to switch their electricity supply to Ecotricity and estimate that they will save £160 a year as a result.  Town clerk Terry Westwood said that the council is very keen to look after the environment and that transfering to the green tariff being promoted by Bovey Climate Action's BIG Switch campaign is an indication of that concern.

Two intrepid BCA members highlighted the lack of public transport by spending a day in August getting to meetings by train, bus and bike!
