The News Stand....what we've been up to in January 2008

Interest in Seedy Saturday is growing fast!  Watch out for posters advertising the event in Bovey and the surrounding area.

We will be offering all of our packs of seeds, plants and tools at the same price - 50p each.  We will be dividing up 'professional' packs of around 35 different varieties of Tuckers vegetable seeds into packets suitable for average sized gardens.  In addition, Tuckers have given us a free box of over 500 packs of their normal seeds (ones that should germinate well, but which have less than their usual v. high germination standard - I bought similar Tuckers seeds at a seed-swap last year, and they were really good).

This means that there will be about 110 varieties of around 40 species of herbs and vegetables, including some unusual ones and several different salad leaf varieties. And that's before we look at seeds which people bring on the day! There should be well over 1,000 packs of seeds available as well as strawberry runners, raspberry canes, Jerusalem artichokes, potatoes and more...

A local grower hopes to bring in tomato plans of several heritage varieties too, so it should be well worth coming!

Seedy Saturday is on 23rd February 11am to 3pm in Bovey Tracey Town Hall.
