Chagford Action for Sustainable Energy (CASE)
CASE aims to work with key authorities, partners and public, private and community organisations to bring about the installation of sustainable energy systems. To acquire and share with members information on sustainable energy systems, grants, technical and legal matters. To use the group's expereince to raise awareness within the community of the potential for a methods of small scale sustainable energy generation. To seek funding to help achieve their objectives. Currently working on DSDF Grant for solar hot water bulk purchase scheme; Domestic electricity consumption awareness campaign; acquisition of the old Chagford hydro plant.
Crediton Climate Action
Taking positive action to prevent further damage to the environment and prepare for the coming change (due to climage change & peak oil) on four levels; individual; local; national and global. Working on raising awareness through films and talks; establishing workshops to focus on various issues, e.g. transport; running market stall.
Devon Association of Renewable Energy (DARE)
A not for profit organisation working to promote the uptake of renewable energy across Devon. Current projects include: RE4D (Renewable Energy for Devon) in Objective 2 area only, promoting low carbon energy to businesses; Micro hydro assessments; Home energy audits.

Devon Community Composting Network
Helping set up and sustain composting projects; networking; newsletter; information through roadshows, books etc.; talks; general community help. Currently working on schools composting, including composting food waste and fruit; Small business composting food waste 'in situ'.  www.dccn.org.uk
Devon Community Recycling Network
The network represents up to 60 community groups involved in reuse, recycling and composting across Devon. Its role is to inform, represent and support community waste sector in Devon; strategic development of sector, new opportunities; working in partnership with local authorities; providing information and advice. Current projects include: addressing how recycling groups join up with new climate change groups;investigating the need for a climate change network and carbon offset scheme to attract offset donations into community scale carbon reduction and renewable energy projects. Holding a conference on 29 June on 'Waste & Climate Change'
Ivybridge Environment Action Group
Group aims to increase awareness and take action regarding the importance of conservation, protection and sustainability of the natural environment both in the Ivybridge area and the global context. Working with the council by advising and volunteering with the maintenance of Long Timber Woods, Filham Park and other green areas int he town, including the River Erme. Raising awareness of environment issues including Peak Oil and the transition necessary over the next few decades. In the first steps towards Transition Town Ivybridge.
SEARCH Holne & Scoriton
Social and Environmental Action in the Rural Community. A not for profit community action organisation to promote and develop projects which embrace social and environmental action in Holne and Buckfastleigh West. Offer support for project leaders to access funding for their projects and to encourage others to take part in community action. Currently loaning out an Electrisave smart meter to monitor live electricity use, cost and carbon emissions; Recycle sale on Sun 27th May at Scoriton Village Hall; Clay Oven workshop in July; solar panel stall at Scoriton Flower Show August Bank Holiday, followed by DIY workshop in Village hall in September.
Sustainable South Brent
Education - to raise awareness; Involvement - to encourage widening participation; Delivery - of action and projects that secure the long term sustainability of South Brent. Projects include: Formation of constituted steering group with 4 sub-groups - a) community energy b) household energy & efficiency c) transport d) woodland and produce; Conducting feasibility studies with RE4D.
Transition Town Moreton
Aims to encourage sustainable living in Moreton through engaging with local people and organisations in transitioning to sustainable practices. Current activities include: Pledge to cut carbon footprint by 20% over 3 months; permaculture courses; cutting food miles with shop local campaign; promoting renewable energy resources through bulk purchase of solar heating panels and interest in one large wind turbine for the town, also small hydro power schemes.
Westden
A not for profit organisation working with communities to find practical solutions to environmental, social and economic challenges. Projects include: Climate change awareness through talks and training; Providing resources -inspiration, contacts fundraising packs; Enabling and facilitating. www.westden.co.uk
